You know, there is something I've really been wanting to get into, about who we are, as Americans, (those of us who are), and what America really stands for. It goes back to our Forefathers, and even before the generation of the Founding Fathers. But, for now, I believe it is important to address the issues at hand.
Unless we undo the Constitutional damages of the unConstitutional "Patriot Act" and the "Homeland Security Bill", America will no longer represent the ideals of our Forefathers. We will one day wake up in Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia. It may not happen in a year, or even 5, but it will happen. Remember, when Hitler got his "Enabling Act" passed, (and, the "Enabling Act" did not go near as far to curb liberties as does the "Patriot and Homeland Acts"), it was in 1933. By 1945, Germany was in utter destruction, and in between, many people suffered greatly, and died, (perhaps needlessly, because people didn't speak up!, because, at 1st, it didn't directly affect their particular group, but by the late 1930s, Hitler came very close to achieving his ultimate goal-a German empire, made up of a blonde haired, blue-eyed "super race").
I wonder just how many members of your family have "blonde hair and blue eyes"?
There is something inherently wrong with a system that allows a society to be ruled by leaders, whose vested interests are contrary to the society's peace and prosperity. When leaders stand to make huge profits from disease, death, and destruction, of even their own constituents, there is something very wrong. Defense industries are booming today, in America, as are pharmaceutical companies, energy businesses, and insurance companies. These industries have more in common than just being more profitable in times of peril; they are all industries in which the Bush families and their political and business cronies, have their major investments. There ought to be a law against political leaders profiting more, as body bag counts increase. It's more than just a shame that our president, vice-president, and congressional leaders stand to profit by our demise.
