"Money equals free speech." is Bullshit. "Corporations having Constitutional rights." is also Bullshit! Let me tell you why, very simply. First, corporations; in order for an American citizen to enjoy Constitutional rights, the individual automatically accepts certain responsibilities, and if the individual violates these responsibilities, jail is a possible punishment. You ever seen a corporation go to jail??? A very few execs have gone to some country-club jails for very minimum amounts of time, but the corporation gets away with billions in looted income and business goes on as usual, (which can be proven by the number of large corporations fined every year for breaking laws, the majority being repeat offenders). The problem is, the fine is far less than the illegal profits made, and the time element between execution of the crime and sentencing is so long that the key execs involved have pocketed their ill-gotten booty and moved on.
As for money and free speech. Think about it, if America is based on the "one person, one vote" concept of our founding fathers, then how can one person's voice be worth as much as say 50,000 people's voices???? Campaign, and other, advertising does just that.
